How to draw a cartoon cactus
Well, I don't think I posted anything for the month of November yet so I'm gonna go ahead and release a series of new tutorials throughout the week! If you haven't seen any of my other tutorials yet, feel free to look through them in your free time! You might find something you like. :)
Today, I will be demonstrating on pencil and paper how to draw a simple cartoon cactus from scratch. This isn't really meant to be a lesson on realism but mainly just to give you an idea of how to draw a full standing cactus. Be sure you have all of your tools ready before you begin!
Step 1
Draw the top portion of the cactus. This first portion will actually be the cactus stem that sits in the middle. Next, we will draw the other 2 stems that stick up at the sides.
Step 2
As you can see, the other two parts are not as tall as the one in the middle. This tends to be the case with most real cacti as well.
Step 3
Draw the body of the cactus. This is the area that lies beneath the top portion of a cactus. Draw the body in a similar fashion as the one I drew. :)

Step 4
Next, draw in some little crannies around the cactus stems. This isn't too much of a requirement rather than just added detail.
Step 5
Now, start drawing vertical lines on your cactus. The lines should start from the very top and extend all the way down to the bottom of the plant. You will see what I am talking about more in the next figure.
Step 6
This last step was made to give you a better idea of what the finished results will look like. There should be vertical lines up and down the entire plant. It doesn't matter how thick or thin the lines can be, it's all up to you!
I hope you enjoyed my tutorial. Keep your eyes opened for more interesting art tutorials. :)
